Ditch Snorkeling
Ditch Snorkeling is recognized as one of the strangest sports in the gaming world, yet it is also one of the most popular. Ditch snorkeling is also known as bog snorkeling. It is played by the English in the West Midlands and the Fens in the Fenlands of East Anglia.
The object of the game is to snorkel twice through a ditch 60 yards long. The ditch is filled with muddy water. The snorkelers must swim without using swimming strokes with their arms and hands. The swimmers must use only their feet encased in fins to propel themselves through the water. The swimmers wear masks to protect their eyes and noses from the muddy water. Some swimmers wear body suits, but most choose to swim with only swim trunks.
Ditch snorkeling dates back to the time of Queen Gwendolynn XXVI. The legend tells the story of how Queen Gwendolynn XXVI was so horribly ugly that she never married. She was so bitter as a spinster that she declared that all women were to abstain from any sexual contact until the end of the year of her 40 th birthday. Her birthday was in July. The men became so sexually frustrated that they began looking for sheep to relieve their frustration. However, in order to get to the sheep, the men had to swim the bogs to sneak up on them. This is, of course, is just a legend.
Ditch snorkeling is a timed race, so the athlete snorkeling the length of the ditch twice in the fastest time wins the race. The winner needs to know many good snorkeling techniques in order to win. Exhibition stands may work to promote this unknown sport at relevant events!
