Dwile Flonking
Dwile flonking is one of the most popular games in Sussex and Suffolk in England. This game is usually played by a group of friends who want to test their physical balance and to see how much alcohol they can drink.
The main objective of dwile flonking is to get as drunk as possible while maintaining your balance. There are usually two teams in this game. Each team takes turns dancing around their opponents and at the same time teasing them. While they are dancing and teasing, they are trying to avoid being hit with a cloth soaked in beer. This cloth soaked in beer is called the “dwile”.
Historians believe that the word “flonk” is evolved from the word “flong” which is the past tense of the word “flung”.
The referee is chosen by the players before the game starts. Remember that the players are usually very drunk, which makes for a lot of arguing with the referee’s decisions. His decisions are always contested.
The game begins with a toss of a sugar beet. The winner of the toss is the first team to start flonking the other team. The game starts with a shout from the referee.
The team that is not flonking gathers together into a circle. They then dance in a circle around a member of the other team in a teasing manner. The flonker dips the cloth into a can of beer. He spins the cloth in the opposite direction to dwile at any member of the opposing team. The object of the game is to not miss flonking any member of the opposing team.
